I have a question about the cover art of Dead soul. It seems likely that this art is depicting Ku’ar-Marekh. Kreelan eyes are described throughout the saga as cat like and silver flecked. Ku’ar-Marekhs eyes, supposedly dead looking as they are, still look different to the human eyes of the cover art. This doesn’t detract from a really excellent book but this one image is the only aid to my imagination of what Kreelan look like and doesn’t seem to match my expectation.

How accurate or useful is this image as a guide?

Unfortunately, it’s not very accurate at all! There aren’t any official renderings (yet) of what the Kreelans look like, and the image on that cover is a stock one that I used from Dreamstime.com. It sort of hints at their appearance – a little tiny bit – but that’s it, really. The Chinese edition of First Contact will have a number of artist renderings, and I hope to secure the license for the images to publish a special illustrated English edition of the book. But I have no idea when it will be published – they’ve been working on it for over a year now… :-(

Very interesting, thanks for your reply. I’ll stick with my own imagination for the time being.
